ABOUT NOBEEP
The Northern Ontario Black Economic Empowerment Program (NOBEEP) is a Canadian government-supported Northern development initiative managed by the Afro-Heritage Association of Sudbury.
NOBEEP will gather, develop and deliver culturally appropriate support to Black entrepreneurs and business owners in order to address the gaps in the Northern Ontario entrepreneurship ecosystem.

GOVERNANCE
The NOBEEP is governed by the Board of Directors of the Afro-Heritage Association of Sudbury.
Chantae Robinson, MSc.
President
Chantae was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. She moved to Sudbury at the age of 16. She completed a BSc. and MSc. in Biology at Laurenitian University and is currently a MD student at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). Chantae enjoys reading, sharing stories with elders, loves being outdoors and share a positive light everywhere!
Robert Nanka-Bruce
Treasurer
Robert is of Ghanaian and Chinese descent. He is a Finance Administrator at Community Living Greater Sudbury based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario
Theresa Nyabeze, P.Eng.
Advisor
Theresa is an avid Community Organizer. Educationally, she holds a Mining Engineering Degree from Laurentian University, with a few courses as part of a Master’s in Business Program. In addition to her contributions to technical excellence and diversity in mining, she is a recipient of a Top Forty Under Forty Award which was awarded her recognition of her role as a community change-maker in the Greater City of Sudbury. Additionally, in 2020 was awarded “100 Accomplished Black Canadian Women for 2020” – to be presented in September of 2021. Theresa is a Senior Mine Specialist at Vale.

Sponsorship opportunities: NOBEEP is currently seeking sponsorship to grow the NOBEEP fund. The NOBEEP fund will finance the growth, operations, and investment arm of the program.
FedNor Funding
On March 11, 2022, the Afro-Heritage Association of Sudbury received a grant of $1,150,000 through FedNor to establish the Northern Ontario Black Economic Empowerment Program (NOBEEP) in communities throughout Northern Ontario. This current funding will allow NOBEEP to operate up to March 2024.
